SeaNav is a comprehensive boating navigation app that allows users to explore, plan, and navigate their trips with ease. With its real-time and high-resolution NOAA Marine charts, covering the entire USA and US Great Lakes, SeaNav provides an exceptional user experience.

SeaNav is a universal app that works seamlessly on iPad, iPhone, and iPod devices, providing consistent and convenient navigation tools across platforms.
One of the key advantages of SeaNav is its use of Digital Vector charts. These charts offer an extensive range of benefits, including the ability to select and display specific chart elements such as buoys, lights, bridges, depth contours, soundings, rocks, and NOAA Weather Buoys. By customizing the display, users can focus on the most relevant information at any given time. Tide, moon, and sun times as well as weather data are easily accessible within the app.
The AR (Augmented Reality) view mode in SeaNav is particularly impressive. It allows users to view various chart elements overlaid onto the camera view of their iPhone or iPad. Using the "AR LockOn" feature, users can select a target on the chart and then receive guidance to that location in the AR camera view.
SeaNav offers convenient tools for measuring distances and bearings between points and recording waypoints along routes. When out at sea, the app's Sailing HUD (Heads-Up Display) provides essential information such as position, Course over Ground (COG), Speed over Ground (SOG), Vector Made Good (VMG), ETA to next waypoint, and distance/bearing to the next waypoint. Users also benefit from waypoint reached alerts, auto-routing to the next waypoint, and collision alerts.
The app extends its functionality with dedicated apps for Apple Watch and Pebble Smartwatch users.
When purchasing SeaNav, users receive 12 months of free updates for the included US chart set. Subsequent chart updates can be obtained through an in-app purchase. Additionally, users have the option to add charts for other regions, including Canada, via optional in-app purchases.
It's important to note that SeaNav's in-app purchases are billed as 1-year subscriptions, which automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period. The app supports managing subscriptions through the iTunes Account Settings.
SeaNav takes user privacy seriously, and its Privacy Policy is accessible through the app or on their website.
Please note that SeaNav requires an iPhone or iPad device, and GPS is only necessary for real-time route navigation. Real-time AIS (Automatic Identification System), tides, and weather information require an active internet connection.
For WiFi-only iPad or iPod users, external GPS receivers or GPS feeds are required for navigation.
Users should be mindful that continued use of GPS running in the background can significantly reduce battery life.
Lastly, it's essential to remember that SeaNav should not be solely relied upon for precise navigation purposes; it should be used as a reference tool alongside other navigational resources. The program is distributed in the hope of being useful but should not be considered a substitute for reliable and accurate navigational tools.
